Finance Team Wins CFA Boston Challenge

Western New England University business students are gaining national attention—and demonstrating the power of applied learning—after capturing first place at the CFA Society Boston Investment Research Challenge.

The student team—Nolan Chamberland, Aleksandra Dzietczyk ’25, Zachary Killoran ’26 and Madeline Jarvinen ’26—outperformed top regional competitors, delivering a rigorous equity research report and presenting their analysis before a panel of industry professionals. Their victory advanced them to the next stage of global competition, placing WNE among an elite group of institutions recognized for excellence in finance education.

Often considered one of the most prestigious undergraduate competitions in the field, the CFA Challenge immerses students in the role of professional analysts. Participants evaluate a publicly traded company, develop investment recommendations, and defend their conclusions in a high-stakes presentation—mirroring real-world expectations in investment banking, asset management, and corporate finance.

For WNE students, the experience is more than academic—it is a defining experience.

Guided by faculty mentors who bring both academic and industry expertise, the team developed not only technical skills, but also the confidence and communication abilities essential for career success.

As the team prepared for the next round, they carried forward more than a win—they represented what is possible when talent, opportunity, and support come together.

Their success is a powerful example of how Western New England University continues to prepare students not just for their first job, but for lasting impact in their fields.
